How Our Alcohol Addiction Treatment Program Works
Although alcohol may be a legal substance for those older than 21, the effects of its abuse can be devastating on a person’s mind, body, and spirit. For alcohol addiction treatment, our goal at JC’s Recovery is to help you after you’ve gone through the detox process through counseling, learning stress management techniques, and participating in 12-step and group therapies.
In addition to teaching you the tools to look forward and beyond your alcohol addiction, we’ll also help you look back. Often, alcohol addiction may be triggered by a history of trauma, mental illness, or a history of substance abuse. When you can understand how you got here, you can start to establish ways to move forward.
We can also help you explore if taking medications to deter a return to alcohol abuse may be helpful. These include naltrexone, a medication that can help reduce alcohol cravings in some people. Exploring different treatment combinations can ideally help you succeed in ways you may not have tried, even if you have completed a rehabilitation program in the past.
How Our Drug Rehab Works
Our outpatient drug rehabilitation services focus on therapy approaches that help you understand how drugs can keep your mind and body addicted and how you can adopt new habits and behaviors to achieve sobriety.
We also offer programs that treat dual diagnosis, a mental health disorder (such as anxiety or depression), and substance addiction. By addressing your needs as a whole person instead of just your substance abuse, we can ideally help you feel better mentally and physically.
Other programs that help set our drug rehabilitation programs apart include those Christian-based recovery programming, treatment for those experiencing addiction during pregnancy, and long-acting naltrexone (Vivitrol) therapy to reduce cravings for opioids.
Each person who comes to our facility may find their drug rehabilitation treatment plan is different. This is because we consider your unique needs and goals when helping establish a program for you. The program often involves some combination of individual therapy, group sessions, stress management techniques, and 12-step programming. We are continually working with you to assess your progress in treatment and how we can potentially improve your plan for your benefit.
Choosing an Outpatient Treatment Center for Austin Residents
We understand that you have many choices, both in Austin and across the country, when it comes to your recovery. However, we find that many people who come to JC’s Recovery from Austin enjoy the fact that it allows them to get away from the stress and pressures of their everyday lives so they can truly focus on their recovery in a new environment.

However, being in a new city can allow you to clear your head and help you know that you are starting fresh. We will help you plan for the next part of your journey, which is when you return to Austin as a sober person ready to meet their new goals for their life.
What to Expect During Outpatient Treatment
Whether you have just finished a stay at an inpatient or residential facility or outpatient treatment is the start of your rehabilitation journey, you’ll find that our treatment offerings are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment.
While each person’s outpatient treatment experience is slightly different because you may choose different services and programs, you can expect you to:
- Participate in individual counseling sessions aimed at helping you establish new, healthy habits to keep you substance-free
- Partake in group counseling sessions where you can share and listen to others who are going through similar experiences
- Listen to motivational speakers who have struggled with substance addiction or helped those who have struggled in the past
- Learn new methods for relapse prevention that can help you learn to manage stress and anxiety and recognize when you could be heading for a relapse
We hope that through outpatient treatment, you will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to live a substance-free lifestyle. We want you to return home to Austin, feeling empowered and ready to begin your new life.
What Does a Day Look Like at JC’s Recovery?
A day at JC’s Recovery often begins with a morning prayer or meditation to help you relax and focus your mind on the day’s activities. You will usually start with an individual counseling session or may participate in group therapy. The focus of these meetings may vary based on where you are in your treatment. For example, you may begin these sessions talking about addiction or treatment. But as you progress, you’ll start to discuss topics that include recovery and relapse prevention.
You may also participate in alternative therapy session options, such as meditation, massage therapy, writing, or even art therapy to express yourself through different methods. There will be free time throughout your day, so you can have some moments to process what you’ve learned and discussed.
After a healthy and therapeutic lunch, you’ll usually participate in additional treatment sessions. These may be individual or group discussions. Some people also choose to participate in specialized meetings, such as family therapy, stress management, trauma counseling, or faith-based counseling. Sometimes, JC’s Recovery will also offer special speaker programs. These may include motivational speakers or personal stories of recovery from our program’s graduates.
In the evenings, we will generally offer a 12-step meeting, such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. This is an opportunity for you to meet others who are just like you who have struggled with substance abuse but are committed to living a sober lifestyle. At the day’s end, we hope you’ll get a good night’s sleep and get ready for the next day’s events — we have so much to teach and share with you on your journey.
