Heroin
Heroin Addiction Treatment
Heroin is a highly addictive and illegal drug. It is extracted from the seed pod of the poppy plant and is then ingested, snorted, shot intravenously, or smoked to give the user a euphoric effect. Heroin is used by millions of people across the globe who have become controlled by their addiction. Users often get stuck in a vicious cycle of use and addiction, because when they try to stop using, they experience horrible withdrawal symptoms. At this point heroin addiction treatment becomes necessary.
Heroin is one of the most addictive drugs known to man and it is almost impossible to stop using without the help of substance abuse treatment. This type of drug use takes over the processes in the brain that control pleasure and discomfort. As the person uses heroin, they start to develop a tolerance which will lead them to need increased amounts of the substance for the desired effect. The result is a loss of control and complete addiction.
Heroin Addiction Treatment at JC Recovery Center
At JC Recovery Center, we provide comprehensive treatment planning that is used especially for those that are overcoming heroin addiction. Upon admission to the program, we conduct a complete assessment of the client based on their history and what they are struggling with. We then develop a treatment plan specific to their situation, which will allow us to address any underlying issues such as mental health disorders that are contributing to the substance abuse. JC Recovery Center is a dual diagnosis facility and we can treat mental health disorders in addition to substance abuse. We work with clients to help them gain healthy coping skills to overcome heroin addiction completely.
Along with heroin addiction come many socioeconomic issues for the user, and our staff is here to help you with this as well. We offer full case management services to each client to help them work through concerns that have fallen by the wayside in active heroin addiction. This includes but is not limited to legal issues, financial issues, and employment issues. We work side by side with our clientele to help them gain self-esteem by clearing away the wreckage of their past.
JC Recovery Centers knows the long-term consequences of heroin addiction can also lead to medical issues that have gone unaddressed. Our clientele is placed under the care of medical staff so they can address any prior medical issues. This includes a full blood screening, routine checkups, and comprehensive medical discharge planning.
Vivitrol
For those needing treatment for heroin addiction, our center offers the Vivitrol Injection Program. Vivitrol is an injection used to combat the risk of relapse. It is used for people that have become addicted to opioid drugs like heroin. This medication cuts down cravings for the drug and works to keep users from feeling the “need” to use. We also use Naltrexone, which is an oral medication taken daily for opiate recovery. Naltrexone is an opiate antagonist, or opiate blocker, which works in the brain to prevent the high felt from heroin and other opiate medications.
These things in conjunction with intensive therapy give the current heroin addict a fighting chance at getting clean and sober. However, we are also concerned about our clients’ long term success and do all we can to help them prevent relapse. Upon discharge from our program, we offer a full continuum of care for our clientele which includes Intensive Outpatient, Sober Living, and Sober Skills. We also offer an alumni program for our graduates to keep them involved in the recovery process and keep connections with the treatment center personnel. We strive to help our clientele transition smoothly into their normal everyday life so that they can continue in their sobriety and avoid relapse.
