Addiction During Pregnancy
Dealing with addiction during pregnancy can be one of the hardest things a woman goes through. Alcohol and drug addiction during pregnancy are a lot more common then most people think.
At JC Recovery center we understand this trying time for expectant mothers and we have designed a treatment program that will allow the expectant mother to get the help they often so desperately need.
Risk of Abusing Drugs and Alcohol During Pregnancy
Using drugs or drinking while pregnant can cause a number of health issues for the mother and the child. Untreated addiction during pregnancy can have devastating effects on the unborn baby. Some of the risks include:
- Fetal convulsions
- Placental abruption
- Fetal growth restriction
- Fetal death
Alcohol use during pregnancy is one of the leading causes of developmental disabilities. Regular drug use while pregnant can cause your baby to have withdrawal symptoms after it’s born. Despite the effects to the fetus some women continue to struggle with addiction during pregnancy. Due to the stigma that comes with drug use they are often too scared to reach out for help for fear of legal complications. We at JC Recovery Center want these women to know there is a safe and structured place for them to come and recover.
Seeking help as early as possible will increase your chances of having a healthy pregnancy and staying healthy yourself.
